Title: Light
Description:

CHEMISTRY
October 27, 2021

Demonstration of wave generation with a spring.
Only certain allowable frequencies produces standing waves.
Difficult to produce a high frequency wave - too much energy required.

Looked at color filters of primary colors of light
    magenta, cyan, yellow
Light has constructive interference
    all colors of light produce white light
The primary colors of pigment are red, blue, yellow
    pigments have destructive interference
    when all pigments are combined black is formed.

Emission spectra of electrons in a hydrogen atom.
    Looked at Balmer series (visible spectra of light),
                       Paschen series
(infra red), and
                       Lyman series (ultraviolet light) and related the individual wavelengths of light
                        to the distance the electron fell down to the ground state in a hydrogen atom.

Spectroscopes
    emission spectra of light from different sources (hydrogen, oxygen, air).

Light Problems
c = f x (lambda)
speed of light = frequency x wavelength

E = h f
energy = Planck's constant x frequency

Demonstration: Polarizing film (Edwin Land and the Polaroid camera)
