Lab: Water Quality "personal" water quality
Laboratory Activity: Water Quality: Week 2 (Testing a Personal Water Sample)
Experimental Overview: The goal of this experiment is to perform pH, nitrate level, chloride level, conductivity/TDS, hardness, and fecal coliform tests to determine the quality of a personal water sample.
Equipment Used: Computer; pH, nitrate, and chloride probes; conductivity meter; well plate; micropipette; sterilized pipette
Analysis Performed: Determine whether water sample is acidic, basic, or neutral, based on pH results; determine whether water sample is considered “safe,” based on pH, nitrate, chloride, and fecal coliform test results; determine purity of water sample, based on TDS result; determine “hardness” of water sample
