Experimental Overview: The goal of this experiment is to perform pH, nitrate level, chloride level, conductivity/TDS,
and hardness tests to determine the quality of water in Bloomington and Normal.
Equipment Used: Computer; pH, nitrate, and chloride probes; conductivity meter; well plate; micropipette
Analysis Performed: Determine whether each water sample is acidic, basic, or neutral, based on pH results;
determine whether each water sample is considered “safe,” based on pH, nitrate, and chloride test results;
determine purity of each water sample, based on TDS result; determine “hardness” of each water sample
